Hello

Hi, I’m Amber Olson! I’m a neurodiversity-affirming Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with a passion for supporting neurodiverse individuals and their families. From young children to adults, I’ve helped individuals develop functional communication skills and regulation strategies, build relationships with others, and thrive in ways that align with their unique strengths. Today, my focus is on empowering families, caregivers, and professionals—such as EMTs, doctors, firefighters, dentists, and police officers—with the tools and strategies they need to  better support neurodiverse individuals in their homes, workplaces, and communities. Let’s work together to create a brighter and more inclusive future!

My Story

After more than 10 years working with neurodiverse individuals and their families, I noticed a recurring theme in my conversations with parents: many felt lost and unsure of where to turn for support. Parents shared that they often struggled to find guidance on helping their child/adult with communication, emotion regulation, and forming meaningful relationships. Hearing their stories inspired me to take action.

That’s why I started Shine Behavior Consulting—to provide families with personalized, practical, and compassionate support. My mission is to bridge the gap by equipping parents and caregivers with the tools and strategies they need to help their child/adult thrive at home, in school, and in the community.

I hold a B.S. in Psychology from Towson University, where I built a strong foundation in early intervention and child development. After earning my M.Ed. in Special Education at Texas Tech University, I became a BCBA in 2023. I’m currently pursuing my PhD in Behavior Analysis at Capella University, with a focus on advancing evidence-based practices for supporting neurodiverse individuals.

Over the years, I’ve developed expertise in emotion regulation, communication strategies, and parent coaching, and I pride myself on taking a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach. My goal is to ensure every family feels seen, heard, and equipped with the knowledge and resources they need to help their child or adult build a bright and meaningful future.

If you’re ready to feel supported and empowered as you guide your neurodivergent child or adult on their journey, Shine is here to help. Let’s create a brighter future together!
